dance as yoga

Breath, movement, and our own heartfelt desire as a technology for deeper connection.

With mantra like repetition we seek to adorn the body with invisible forces of prana generated through careful assimilation of dance technique, where the aim is to move deeper than our own individual process and enter the temple of creation.

Opening circle

View through an arched stone doorway showing a dark, ornately decorated wooden door with the number 22 and a small mailbox or plaque on it. There is a small potted plant to the right of the door.

We begin each dance session by holding an opening discussion on the history, lineages, and cultural context of the dance forms we are drawing from. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural context and meaning imbibed in the movements. My intention is to create a safe space to talk about these important topics so that we can ask questions, make mistakes, and continue to cultivate cultural sensitivity.
